Eufònic 2022 – First confirmed artists
Here we go! The 11th edition of the festival will be held from 25 to 28 August, again filling with sound, visual and digital performing arts various spaces of La Ràpita, Amposta, Tortosa and other towns of Terres de l’Ebre.
At the grand opening session at the Church of La Ràpita we’ll have Kinbrae, the landscape electronic duo of Scottish twins Andy and Mike Truscott that combines wind instruments, acoustic guitar and percussion on a canvas of ambient and neo-classical music.
Within the musical section, we will have a handful of emerging names such as Judeline from Cadiz and its captivating pairing of pop and electronics with flamenco; the sharp audiovisual search of the Taiwanese producer Sabiwa; the urban and confessional pop of Xicu, Cesc Valverde’s solo project, also known for being the drummer of the group Ginestà; and new local electronics talents such as Infant Blai, from Tortosa and former member of VLIVM and Yumi Yumi Hip Hop, and Soul Twin, the vehicle for atmospheric and textural experimentation with field recordings of Sergi Idiarte and Blanca Rodríguez.
We will also invite you to immerse yourself in an artistic installation of Diego Paonessa around the social configuration of technology through the interaction and creation of interfaces, as well as in the light installation on climate change “Rising”, a project by environmental artist Maya Mouawad and composer Cyril Laurier.
From the Creative Residencies convened by Eufònic and the Centre d’Art Lo Pati, Arnau Casanoves will present a research on the biological connections between roots music, technology and the native flora of the territory, and theatre director Olivia Furber will propose a performative guided tour by boat. On the other hand, the tandem formed by Roc Domingo and Marta R. Chust will present their visual exploration on the deployment of high-speed Internet technology over the Catalan territory.
Following the aim of creative sustainability of the Eufònic STNBL program, we will recover two fascinating small format projects: “La mesura del detall”, a dance piece where Magí Serra generates forms and movements around effort, loss, precision, risk and fragility, and “Esmolets”, a performative project in the form of a live documentary on the figure of the sharpeners, now in a woman’s body, conceived by Eli Gras, Marina H. Asciutti and Lula Thomas, key artists of the Barcelona experimental scene.
