We welcome one of the most relevant sound artists of the last two decades: Dutch composer and researcher Edwin van der Heide. The spatial presence of sound and the interaction with it, key axes of his work, are explored in “Phasing Air,” a striking sound installation curated by Arnau Horta specifically for the Centre d’Art Lo Pati in Amposta. An invisible and immersive sound sculpture that combines pneumatic sound generation based on valves and sound generation based on speakers. Edwin van der Heide studied Musical Technology in Utrecht and Sonology at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, where he has been a professor and also co-director of the ArtScience Interfaculty. His works have been exhibited at the University of Bonn, the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid, the MAXXI in Rome, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, Art Basel, the Mies van der Rohe Foundation in Barcelona, and the opening of Sónar 2018. Currently, he is a professor and researcher in Media Technology at Leiden University.
