Writer Gabi Martínez takes us on a walk to the viewpoint of l’Alfacada (Sant Jaume d’Enveja). During the hike (40 minutes), we will talk about the situation of the delta, specifically about the island of Buda, which can be seen from the viewpoint, based on the book “Delta”. Sediments, flamingos, farmers, environmentalists, rice, hunters… How do all these elements interact at a point that, according to scientists, will be flooded by the sea in the coming years? Gabi Martínez is the director of the LiterNatura Festival, founding member of the associations Caravana Negra and Lagarta Fernández, of the Urban and Territorial Ecology Foundation, and co-director of the project Invisible Animals. His work, like the non-fiction books “Sólo para gigantes”, “Un cambio de verdad”, “Lagarta”, and “Las defensas”translated, has benn translated into ten countries and has received numerous awards and recognitions. The latest, “Delta”, was chosen as the best book of 2023 by the literary magazine WMagazine. He is also the protagonist of the chapter “Colombian massif” in the documentary series “Finding Encanto”, awarded with a Dolphin at the Cannes Festival.
