The work of this sound artist and researcher revolves around phonographic practice (field recording) and sound experimentation, taking the form of installations, immersive listening situations, compositions, performances, and texts. Organismo, the installation he will present at the Ulldecona mill, is part of Organscape (Honorary Mention at the Prix Ars Electronica 2021), a sound set that complements works written for the organ of the University of Santiago de Compostela and approaches the mimesis of the soundscape through a system of autonomous mechanical modules driven by bellows that emulate paramusical sounds such as birdsong. With a PhD in Fine Arts with the Thesis “Signal/Noise. Some uses of the soundscape in the context of art”, Xoán-Xil López also studied musicology, is part of the Mediateletipos projects (sound art), Ulobit (improvisation) and Voltage Opposite (dance), and collaborates with different formations such as the Vertixe Sonora contemporary music ensemble, Arxis Ensemble, the Gigacircus company, or the Haarvöl electronic music project.
