Born in Verona (Italy, 1966), Riccardo Massari is a composer, sound artist, producer, and musician focused on piano, electronic music, and self-built instruments. He graduated in composition from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague (Netherlands) and furthered his studies through various seminars led by György Ligeti, Walter Zimmermann, and Luis Andriessen. He also studied phonology with Clarence Barlow and Richard Barret. He has been composing for instruments, voices, and electronics since 1997, and his compositions have been performed and presented in Italy, Spain, the United States, Mexico, Japan, Portugal, and Slovenia. Recently, some of his works have been acquired and cataloged in the collections of important institutions such as the MACBA Museum in Barcelona and the Philharmonic Academy of Verona. In 2010, he founded his independent music production project, Tarkampa.
