Lo Pati in Amposta will host this sound creation workshop for all ages, using music boxes and perforated paper, led by Italian composer, sound artist, producer, and musician Riccardo Massari Spiritini (aka TARKAMPA) with Maria Morera Casablancas. The workshop will involve the collective creation of a long piece played with more than one music box using paper tape (or “hole score”) that can also contain words, drawings, icons, and symbols. The aim is to play with sounds, rhythms, melodies, poetry, and space, approaching the world of the player piano—a little-known instrument that is a precursor to computer-made music—in a playful, intuitive, and tactile way. By the end of the workshop, we will have created paper strips that are simultaneously music, poetry, and play, which can be shared, exchanged, and preserved as artistic objects.
