Co-vision

A project to showcase Europe’s natural heritage through culture

Over the next three years, Eufònic will be part of the “CO-VISION – Mapping Natural Heritage” initiative, a cooperation project funded by the European Commission that aims to co-create and co-produce a cultural content model and a digital artistic archive around environmental challenges in the EU, involving citizens, artists and local entities through a participatory cultural strategy.

The project wants to detect, draw and expose the current state of health of Europe’s natural heritage with the aim of stimulating deep awareness of the climate crisis, encouraging sustainable behavior and ensuring that part of the natural heritage at risk is preserved for future memory, values that from the festival we share and value in each edition of Eufònic.

CO-VISION – Mapping Natural Heritage is a project between eight European festivalsVideocittà (Italy), Transilvania Trust (Romania), KIKK (Belgium), LAB852 (Croatia), Athens Digital Arts Festival  (Greece), Rencontres Audiovisuelles (France), Signal (Czech Republic) and Eufònic; together with four technical partnersIED (Italy), The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Norway), South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences | Creative Industries Research Unit, Kouvola (Finland) y Mapa das ideais (Portugal). A total of twelve professional cultural actors from eleven European countries joined together to map Europe’s natural heritage.

Through a digital augmented reality experience inspired by diatoms —essential, microscopic and nearly imperceptible organisms— the piece challenges notions such as invasive species, natural balance, and visibility in nature.
