At Eufònic, sustainability is a fundamental element that permeates all our actions. Located in a unique territory such as the Terres de l’Ebre, the festival combines art, culture and innovation with a conscious management of natural resources and environmental impact. Our commitment is not only based on reducing environmental impact, but also on preserving and promoting the landscape and biodiversity of the Delta, actively contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Our efforts are particularly aligned with:
- SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, promoting the cultural and natural heritage of the Terres de l’Ebre.
- SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, committing to sustainability in artistic practices and in the festival’s management.
- SDG 15: Life on Land, promoting environmental protection and biodiversity through artistic proposals rooted in the territory.
Actions that already make Eufònic a sustainable festival
Throughout all its editions, Eufònic has progressively implemented a range of measures to minimize environmental impact and promote sustainable practices. The main areas of work and actions carried out to date include:
Energy efficiency
-
- Eufònic is progressively replacing traditional lighting with high-efficiency LED technology in stages and installations, achieving a significant reduction in energy consumption and minimizing environmental impact.
- The Eufònic website is hosted on a green hosting server powered by 100% renewable energy, provided by CDmon, actively contributing to reducing the festival’s carbon footprint.
- The festival’s outdoor spaces are equipped with Green Voltage generators, a sustainable technological solution that ensures energy operations with minimal emissions, helping to reduce the festival’s environmental impact.
- A strategic switch-on and switch-off plan regulates the use of electrical equipment in each space and at each moment of the festival, ensuring responsible and efficient consumption throughout all phases of the event.
Waste management
-
- Eufònic applies an integrated waste management system across its venues, with specific containers for waste separation (organic, paper and cardboard, glass, plastics and metals). To ensure proper use, visual guides are provided at recycling points.
- The festival reuses a large proportion of the materials used in assembly and decoration, such as furniture, signage and decorative elements. This helps reduce waste generation and encourages more sustainable production.
- We highlight the use of reusable cups instead of single-use cups for both staff and festival attendees. In the 2024 edition, plastic cups (PP) were replaced with rice husk cups, a biodegradable alternative, to reduce environmental impact.
Production and materials
-
- Reuse of tarpaulins and other scenographic materials.
- Elimination of festival tote bags to reduce water consumption in their production, opting for more sustainable alternatives and reducing the water footprint.
- Elimination of plastic sleeves for festival and Eufònic PRO accreditations.
- Reduction of printed materials, with a shift towards the digitalization of maps and event programmes.
- Use of materials with ecological certifications and eco-friendly inks for printing.
Sustainable mobility
-
- Free bus service between the main towns (Amposta and Tortosa) and Delta locations (Poblenou del Delta, Balada, Bosc de Ribera, etc.), with three routes (two on Saturday and one on Sunday) to minimize the ecological impact of mobility between locations within the Natural Park.
- Encouragement of car-sharing among the organization’s staff.
- Planned access routes for people with reduced mobility and facilitated access for emergency vehicles.
- Promotion of public transport use to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and private vehicle traffic.
Creative sustainability
-
- We approach sustainability from a creative and artistic perspective, recognizing it as a process that impacts both artistic production and its viability. Through the Eufònic STNBL call, we promote the revitalization of small-scale works and creations.
