With a sonic universe that moves between minimalism, sci-fi ambient, and noise, Severine Beata is the alias of Marta Peláez Corchs — a sound artist, educator, producer, and composer. Her approach to sonic experimentation often begins with melodies and cycles rooted in folk music, where references to classical music coexist with sounds captured from nature. In live performances — as developed in her acclaimed appearances at Museo Reina Sofía, MediaLab Prado, Matadero Madrid, Ca2M, BilbaoArte, and LEM Gràcia Territori Sonor (BCN) — she emphasizes the live manipulation of all kinds of analog and digital synthesizers. In her second and most recent album, La era del trance (Repetidor, 2023), produced by Javi Álvarez (Dúo Cobra, Fluzo, Neboa, DJ de la Muerte), a highly personal language emerges from each instrument, shaped by open harmonies and structures to create brief, dreamlike pieces.
