In this AV show, the eroded textures and shifting layers of sound by NEXCYIA enter into dialogue with Laia Ferran’s visual universe. A meeting point between sonic matter and moving image, where sound unfolds into a dark and unstable space while the visuals amplify its tensions, textures and atmospheres.

Nexcyia

Eroded textures, shifting layers of sound and stretched ambient pushed towards a darker, more unstable place. This is where NEXCYIA operates, the sonic project of Adam Dove, an American artist born in Paris and based in Berlin. He has presented his work at venues such as Barbican Centre, ICA and Café OTO, and released on labels including Good Morning Tapes, Haunter Records and Hivern Discs.

Laia Ferran

Laia Ferran works with moving image as a space where sound takes shape and becomes visible. Through rhythm, form and colour, she creates visuals that do not accompany the music but enter into dialogue with it, amplifying its tensions, textures and atmospheres.

Based in Barcelona, her practice moves between live audiovisual performance and immersive digital environments, developing works that oscillate between graphic abstraction and an almost physical energy. Her work stems from the language of motion design, but expands it into a more open field, where the image responds, reacts and breathes with the sound.
