Between analogue synthesizers, cosmic melodies and a deeply cinematic sensibility, Sunesis crafts an intimate, fragile and dreamlike sonic universe that feels as if it arrived directly from somewhere between nostalgia and outer space. Born in Buenos Aires and based in Barcelona for the past decade, the singer and producer moves between synthwave, synthpop and ethereal atmospheres that can perhaps only be described as “spacewave”. With echoes of Boards of Canada or Cocteau Twins — yet with a voice entirely her own — she mainly works with hardware synthesizers to build delicate, expansive pieces filled with nocturnal light. Founder of Synthwave Spain and co-founder of the Electric Synthicate collective, we can’t think of a better place for her music to orbit than the Observatori de l’Ebre on a summer night.
Sunesis
“Music for Space Stations” is the concept Sunesis uses to define a sonic proposal that transforms a fascination with science fiction, biology and retrofuturistic imaginaries into immersive and emotional electronic landscapes. After performing at festivals such as MUTEK ES, Way Out West and ElektrAV, and releasing “Orbital” — selected by Mondosonoro as one of the best electronic albums of 2023 — she released “DESTINATIONS” in 2025, her first vinyl LP: a synthwave ode to space exploration, possible futures and that strange beauty that only appears when we stare at the night sky for too long.
