Tomonaga Tokuyama: “Poetics of algorithmic space”

The Japanese Paris-based artist, a regular contributor to renowned electronic composer and visual artist Ryoji Ikeda and developer of architectural design tools for architects such as Kengo Kuma and Junya Ishigami, presents a new piece, belonging to his series f () and derived from the one presented at Arts Santa Mònica in February this year, curated by Arnau Horta.

A visual and auditory installation based, like all his work, on computer programming. Tomonaga understands “architecture as hardware and installation as software” when related to to interaction with space and the senses of the public: from sound tubes reactive to sound, a invisible energy flows, creating sound waves as they collide with air molecules. The idea is to represent an extremely minimalist model of how human beings perceive the universe.
