The Ekho group was born in 2022 at the University of Barcelona as a sound research group led by Magda Polo Pujadas, who created the concept of Hybrid Conceptual Music, combining interdisciplinary studies, electronics, soundscape, and AI. The group’s compositional and interpretive project, “Sonic Portraits,” explores the symbiosis between different types of musical creative processes and other disciplines such as aesthetics, anthropology, or sociology. These sonic portraits involve a philosophical and musical immersion that allows the elaboration of the work’s structure and the essence of all its sonic elements. The sonic projection of characters, places, or events and the participation of the public are its main objectives. The Ekho group performs collective compositions in which various musicians occasionally participate, but it has a stable team formed by Magda Polo, Toni Costa, Adrien Faure, and Nerea Martínez. The four compositions they have made so far have been presented at Sónar and the Actual Festival (Logroño). At Eufònic 2025, they will carry out an artistic action with the same name as the village that will host it, Balada.
