A true scholar of dance culture for the musical day at the Ermita de la Pietat! Luis Costa has been a DJ, journalist, and writer since 1994, when he joined the pioneering magazine Disco 2000. After working across various media—press, radio, and TV—he moved into record distribution with companies like Satélite K and Decoder Muzique, as well as the legendary Barcelona record store cd.drome. Since 2009, he has been the press officer for Razzmatazz Clubs in Barcelona, where he was also a longtime resident DJ. He has played at several editions of Sónar and the Benicàssim International Festival, as well as clubs throughout Spain and in cities like London, Paris, and Berlin. He is also a concert programmer, having managed booking for Freedonia in Barcelona and currently working with the promoter DAMN. In 2025, he will celebrate the 12th anniversary of his itinerant club night Dancetería. He is the author of books including “¡Bacalao! Historia oral de la música de baile en Valencia, 1980-1995”[An Oral History of Dance Music in Valencia] (Contra, 2016), “Balearic. Historia oral de la cultura de club en Ibiza” [An Oral History of Club Culture in Ibiza] (Contra, 2020), and Dance Usted (Anagrama, 2022).
