This May, London-based Catalan experimental electronic musician Marçal Xirau releases his new album, ‘Unveiled.’ As we’ve seen in the various preview tracks, passages of introspection, ethereal melodies, and slow progressions intertwine with bursts of beats and aggression in a proposal that bends the barrier between ambient music, pop, and abstract high pitch melodic synth music. Xirau is also a guitarist, and after previous works and live performances (we remember him from Sónar+D 2020) where processed vocals and guitar played a very central role, he now expands his sonic palette with all kinds of digital production tools and distortion techniques, using CDJs to layer harmonies and explore dynamics of tension and release.
