This spring, Mallorcan singer-songwriter Marisol Eichborn released the video for “Sol,” the first preview track from her debut EP, “Catarsis.” This acoustic piece stands out for its bright, meticulous, and dreamy production by David Fons, evoking artists like Violeta Parra and the psychedelic pop-rock of Juana Molina or Melody’s Echo Chamber. “Sol” is the first chapter of a six-part story exploring themes such as childhood, connection with the sea, and blurred memories of the past. Marisol Eichborn’s musical journey began in 2018, influenced by the teachings of her father, who is also a musician. She studied production at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP) in London and started composing solo at the age of 17. She was also part of the riot grrrl band Love Loba. With “Catarsis,” Marisol invites us on a personal and emotional journey through her evocative, contemporary folk music.
