Currently based in Berlin, DJ and producer Mike Shannon began his career in the Southwestern Ontario Corridor (Canada), where, at just 15 years old, his razor-sharp technique and deep techno-house selections—heavily influenced by the sounds of Detroit and Chicago—established him as one of the most promising rising stars on the scene. He soon aligned with other Canadian pioneers, such as Richie Hawtin and his Plus 8 label. This pivot to becoming a label curator led to the creation of two imprints, Cynosure and Haunt Recordings, both driven by a vision of jazz-infused electronic minimalism which has helped redefine the topography of the Minimal Techno genre. He is a strong proponent of recent modular synthesis technology, and his own productions have imposed an unceasing standard on the beating heart of house and techno. His DJ sets stand out not only for their technical mastery but also for their subtle shading of themes both recognizable and exotic, as well as his pursuit of unusual, innovative timbres.
