Two views on the exiles, those of our ancestry, our own and, perhaps, our descendants. The Argentine musician Pablo Schvarzman and the Venezuelan filmmaker and anthropologist Adriana Vila Guevara will present at the same time two pieces: “Exile Soundscapes”, sound postcards of the Spanish Civil War processed and mixed with synthesizers, voices and guitars; and “From The Under-Exile”, 16mm images evoking the collective memory silenced in mass graves.
Pablo Schvarzman is part of the Seward group, he is a professor at the Sae Institute and the Barcelona Taller de Músics, has worked with Agustí Fernández, Peter Kowald, Nuria Giménez Lorang and Butch Morris, among many others, and has performed in Primavera Sound, Cruïlla, BAM, Festival Grec, the Barbican Center and the Royal Festival Hall in London, and the jazz festivals in Barcelona, Vic and Girona.
Adriana Vila’s artistic work embraces the immateriality of cinema, moving between photochemical and video analog formats, and its different forms of expression (such as single-channel projection, film performance or installation). She has presented her work in numerous festivals and art spaces such as IFFR Rotterdam Film Festival, Oberhausen IFF, Edinburgh International Film Festival, International Video art festival LOOP, Curtas IFF Belo Horizonte and Museo de Bellas Artes Caracas.
