Now that light pollution in cities makes it impossible to gaze at the stars and recall the ancient stories told by the constellations, the audiovisual research studio Playmodes will create an immersive experience at the Ebre Observatory that aims to recover this universal heritage. “Astres” is a ritual of artistic expression, technology, and natural phenomena, using laser projection mapping and spatialized audio. Playmodes is a hybrid team of engineers, musicians, and designers who work with proprietary technologies to bring new visual and sound instruments to life. Digital luthiery applied to formats such as immersive installations, scenography, or video projection mapping, beyond traditional screen frameworks. In recent years, they have developed projects for light festivals around the world (Fête des Lumieres, Signal, LlumBCN, Mapping Festival, LIT Bogotá, Chartres en Lumière…), electronic music events (Sónar, Mira, LEV, DGTL, D4N…), art institutions and festivals (Macau Arts Festival, In Between Time…), published sound works on electronic music labels (“Plegat“, Discontinuerecords), and have been awarded international distinctions in the field of New Media (Ars Electronica Prix, LAUS, Visual Music Awards).
