An artistic residency in the Westfjords of Iceland, specifically surrounded by the awe-inspiring tranquility of Dýrafjörður fjord, imbued “DÝRA,” the latest album by Scottish-Portuguese sound artist and producer Su Shaw, with a monumental and introspective air. Prior to this delightful mini-album of expansive modular synthesizers, her multidisciplinary practice had already explored themes such as identity or human connection from the intersection between sound, space, environment, and ecology. Her sound projects, performances, and installations have been presented or commissioned by MSCTY Tokyo, Sonica Glasgow, Dundee Contemporary Arts, Edinburgh Festival, Celtic Connections, Cryptic Nights, Radiophrenia (Scotland), and in Portugal, Iceland, Italy, Brazil, Egypt, and South Kurdistan. Her self-titled debut album was considered one of the best records released in Scotland in 2019 and was subsequently remixed by internationally renowned artists such as Roxymore, Sophia Loizou, or Alva Noto. In the century-old hall of the Casino de Amposta, we will be fortunate to see her latest, still untitled body of work, blending voice and modular synthesis to immerse us in a state of complete sonic liminality..
