Carlos Martorell is a sound and visual artist based in Torelló. His work mainly focuses on the relationship between humans and technology, and the interaction between movement and sound. One of his notable elements is the research and development of instruments, which lately are based on motion sensors and unconventional MIDI equipment. In recent years, he has also developed his visual language by experimenting with digital languages, game engines, and 3D techniques such as scanning or photogrammetry.

With his main solo project, Shoeg, he proposes for this first edition of Eufònic TERRA an approach through sound and computing to the complexity and configuration of an olive field. Elements such as the knots in the bark or the ovules of the trunk, as well as the effects of lightning on a tree, can challenge our ‘rational’ and utilitarian way of understanding time and space. Shoeg has previously presented works at Sónar+D, MIRA Festival, SONICA Glasgow, LEV Festival, Keroxen, and also at Eufònic.
