“SSSSS”: Marc Vives’s Sculptural Voice Blends with the Liquid Landscape of the Delta

Marc Vives unfolds the voice as sculptural material and space during the Eufònic – Lo Pati 2025 creative residency in the Delta de l’Ebre

Barcelona-based artist Marc Vives explores in his project SSSSS the voice as a tool to infiltrate structures, architectures, landscapes, and bodies. From the Eufònic – Lo Pati 2025 creative residency, Vives draws on his experience of “singing” to the landscape of the Ebro Delta from the water, capturing this liquid quality and expanding it into the surrounding forms and spaces.

Combining performing and visual arts, his practice works with the materiality of the voice, highlighting its sculptural and spatial potential to reformulate established order and create new ways of inhabiting the territory.

A dialogue between body, sound, and landscape

SSSSS is a series of actions and experiences based on voice and movement that analyze the impact of space on the body and the body on sound. The project tensions the relationship between the natural and the artificial, with a special focus on the liquid and fluid quality offered by the Delta, a fundamental reference for Vives’s creative process.

The Eufònic – Lo Pati 2025 residency provided the ideal context to experiment with the voice as an element that transcends the boundary between the human and the landscape, offering a fresh perspective on the architectures and bodies inhabiting the Delta de l’Ebre.
