“Atrapa-sons”: a trap reimagined as a sound and light object

Núria Rovira kicks off the Eufònic – Lo Pati 2025 Creative Residencies programme with a project focused on the bussó, the traditional eel trap of the Delta de l’Ebre

“Atrapa-sons” is the first project of the Eufònic – Lo Pati 2025 creative residencies programme. Artist Núria Rovira takes the bussó, a handcrafted trap used to catch eels, and reimagines it as a contemporary device where light, sound, and the memory of a deeply rooted craft converge.

Over two weeks, Rovira has worked on-site, combining sound experimentation, sculptural object, and collaborative practice with local fishers. The result is a sensitive artefact that breathes with the rhythm of the landscape, evoking stillness, silence, and the ecological fragility of an ever-changing environment.

Open Studio to share the first results!

An initial presentation of the process took place in an open studio format—with vermouth included—on the final day of Núria Rovira’s residency. Early visual and sound tests were shared with the audience, along with a conversation involving fishers and others who had taken part in the fieldwork behind Atrapa-sons.

The project will be presented as a sound installation in July at Eufònic 2025—a piece that weaves together tradition and experimentation, turning a fishing tool into a living metaphor for the territory.
