If you thought the confirmations within the weekend tickets were everything… with the arrival of spring we come loaded with energy and novelties! More interventions, more performances, more music and more experiences to immerse yourself in the sound, visual and digital-performative universe that is Eufònic! Do you want to know what awaits you?
Salt and sound: new perspectives on the landscape
The ancient salt flats of the Delta will host “Geometries of Salt”, an intervention by sculptors Montserrat Cuesta and Sergi Ramírez, from Arenas Posibles, which transforms salt into an ephemeral archive while reflecting on the transition between land and water, the memory of transhumance and the legacy of a key space for the salt trade.
At the Old Oil Mill in Ulldecona, Xoán-Xil López will present “Organism”, a sound installation that recreates natural acoustic landscapes using automata and becomes a postdigital study of mechanical ornithology. Moreover, Xoán-Xil will also teach our classic phonography workshop through the landscapes of the Ebro Delta during the festival.
Sound and visual revolution at the Casino of Amposta, with a lot of attitude, electronics and experimentation
The Casino of Amposta will be the stage for Eufònic’s most groundbreaking afternoons. Bella Báguena, a non-binary Valencian trans artist, presents a visceral performance that fuses music, body and emotion through improvisation and the mixing of digital and analog sounds.
SHHE, the project of Scottish-Portuguese artist Su Shaw, will squeeze out an intense sound proposal with modular synthesizers and a unique voice that questions identity and the environment. The Barcelonians penca will shake the centuries-old hall of Amposta with their second album, “N9U MÓN”, a cry of postpunk and frenetic electronics that captures the energy of a restless generation.
Revendless, the alter ego of Adrián Camáñez, brings his obsession with electronic equipment to the old hall, where he will unfold his experimental sound universe. For her part, the Quebecoise Lina Choi will present the sound-performative piece created during the CONFLUENCE artistic residency, an immersion in the aquatic landscape that connects Quebec and Catalonia and that she will have developed over two months between L’Estruch in Sabadell, La Ràpita and Amposta.
Saturday the 12th in the morning: sound subtlety in the Ribera woods and festive energy at the Balada vermouth
If last year’s Saturday morning was magical, this year doesn’t look any different. After the activities in the Ribera woods, with the already announced performances of Marc Vives and the Park Keito duo, in the small village of Balada, we will see the EKHO Research Group with “Sonic Portraits”, a sound-musical proposal that captures the essence of the landscape and the citizenry, fusing electronics, natural sounds and artificial intelligence.
Already in vermouth time, Mundo Prestigio will explode “Eterna Constanza” (2024) at the Balada pier, an album of soul, funk and urban rhythms filled with irreverent samples that mock the culture of effort. DJ Top Ranqueen, master of Ebro dub and dancehall scene, will be the master of ceremonies. A promising midday by the river indeed!
Valencian glitter and ‘bakalao’ in a hermitage
A classic returns! On Sunday, July 13th, Eufònic and the Musical Journeys at the Ermita de la Pietat will close with Sandra Monfort‘s new show at the Ulldecona hermitage. With “La mona de nit,” the Valencian artist fuses electronica and Mediterranean tradition, mixing Fallas attitude, wild abandon, hardcore attitude, and ‘pasodobles’. A closing full of rhythms with the purest essence of ‘bakalao’. Save some energy for this grand finale!
Day passes now available!
All these activities are free*, but have you seen the lineups for FRIDAY 11th and SATURDAY 12th at the Auditorium and Dance Hall of Lira Ampostina yet? Take a look!
